• It is fitting that the Golf Wide Bay award for the lowest Women’s Stroke Average be renamed the Jackie Petterson Medal in recognition of the tireless years of service Jackie Petterson has given to women golfers in our District.
  • Prior to 2014, the Wide Bay Women were part of the very large Wide Bay Burnett District Golf Association, incorporating the Zones of Wide Bay, North Coast ( including all the Sunshine Coast clubs) and South Burnett.
  • Jackie began as a delegate to that District Committee in 1993 and in her 20+ years on Committee had two 3-year terms as President while also continuing to represent Bundaberg Golf Club on the Wide Bay Zone Committee.
  • Wide Bay Zone ladies voted to amalgamate with the Wide Bay Men’s District in 2012 and Jackie took on the monumental task of ensuring a smooth breakaway and a just financial settlement from WBBDGA.
  • In 2013, Jackie went on to the Steering Committee of the newly amalgamated Golf Wide Bay District. The Morrie Fanning Medal was a feature of the men’s program, and the women adopted this award in 2015.
  • Golf Wide Bay gratefully acknowledges Jackie’s dedication to the District for the past 30 years, and from 2023, the women will compete for the prestigious Jackie Petterson Medal.
